FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is bootcamp?

Bootcamp Ireland is new revolution in getting fit. With sessions running for 2/3 evenings a week, it is open to both men and women who are interested in getting fit in a new and exciting way. Our instructors are professional army fitness instructors or qualified fitness instructors, who give members the motivation and encouragement to push themselves to new heights.

Is it very tough going?

The great thing about bootcamp, is that it is as tough as you want it to be. Our instructors will encourage you to push yourself, but no member is asked to go beyond their ability. It is worth coming down for a session to see for yourself, as each person is different!

Do I have to be fit to join?

It is not necessary to be extremely fit to join, however it helps if you have a basic level of fitness. Can you walk an hour at a good pace, a few times a week? If so, then this should be fine. Your fitness level may occassionally be assessed at the beginning of each course, and our aim is to increase that level over the weeks and have you feeling fitter than before you joined!

How much does it cost?

The cost is €150 for 16 classes which runs over a set 8 week session. This also includes our free bonus classes that we run every Saturday in some locations for bootcampers to get in an extra workout, or catch up on a class that they may have missed during the week.

Where is it on?

We run the Bootcamp in different locations around Dublin. From April to October we are in Bushy Park, Phoenix Park & Herbert Park, Marley park & Fairview park and from November to March, we are in St. Marys in Rathmines, Muckross Park College in Donnybrook & Aughrim St Sports Ctr which is off NCR, Marino Insitute of Education, on Griffith Avenue starting January 2008, Marino Institute of Education.

What if I miss a training session?

There is no problem if you miss a session, however, it is advisable to make as many of the sessions as you can, to get the most out of Bootcamp, but don’t forget about our Saturday sessions that are open to all full time members to help them catch up on a missed class or get an extra workout in, for free! Discounts or refunds will not be given for missed classes.

Can I bring a friend?

Yeah sure! And if 5 or more of you join, one goes free! (all 5 must register and pay at the same time and at the start of a full session.)

What if it rains?

Our sessions go on regardless of weather!

How long does it go on for?

Each class is an hour long, however, it is advisable that you arrive up to 10 mins before each session. Each course runs for 8 weeks. See Sign up now section for dates.

What should I wear to training?

Depends on the weather, but good sensible running shoes, and either a tracksuit or shorts. Whatever you would wear if you were going for a run in the park! For the ladies, its good to wear something like training leggings or shorts (you will understand why when you’re training!). A light rain-jacket is advisable on rainy days, and in winter, a hat and gloves are always great to have.

Is it mixed?

Yes, the course is open to male and females.

What age group is it for?

It is open to all ages, however, the majority of our members are aged between 20 – 40yrs.

Can I go alone?

Of course you can! In fact most of our members come on their own and meet up with other members in the same boat! Its’ actually a great place to meet new people and get fit at the same time!

When is Bootcamp held? Is there a timetable?

Our timetable is on the website – check it out for different times & locations.

Should I talk to a doctor before Bootcamp?

Each member is required to complete a health waiver form on signing up. Should you have any particular illness or disabilities, please inform the instructor before any session.

Do I need to be a member of a gym?

No. This is completely independent of any gym.

How do I prepare for Bootcamp?

Physically, it is advised that you do not eat at least 1 hour before the session. Its good to have a substantial lunch on the day of the session, at lunch-time, and then don’t eat until the session is over. That way, you get the most out of the training, and feel much better. Mentally, just come along, and prepare to have a good time and work out to the best of your ability.

When can I start Bootcamp?

There are a number of sessions running over the year – see Sign up now section for the start dates. However, it is possible to join mid session depending on availability. Email or phone for rates.

What is a typical Bootcamp training session like?

We arrive 10 minutes before the session begins. Warm up for 10-15 mins and then the rest may differ from one session to another. It is made up a variety of circuit training, aerobic training and conditioning. To finish each session, a cool down and stretch wraps it up!

Can I carry forward classes during a session?

Unfortunately, we are unable to carry forward any classes to another session. It is quite common that members will occasionally miss a class or 2 during a 16 class session, but we do advise, that you try to make it to at least 13 out of the 16 for the best result.

Can I try it out first?

Like most other courses of this nature, (ie circuit training, pilates, dance, etc..), it is essential that all members taking part, pay in full prior to the commencement of any session, so if you have questions at all about the training, please feel free to ask Bootcamp by either email or phone.
